Sintra can be cut with a jigsaw, band saw or CNC router. It comes in 3/16” & ½” thicknesses and can be used in interior and exterior applications. These panels are water resistant, lightweight and strong. They are almost one of the easiest types of signs to install. Competitors often use vinyl stickers when making these signs which nearly always leads to de-lamination. A process where the sticker falls off the Sintra board. So what is sintra exactly? If you’ve done your research, you may have come across the Sintra website where you would’ve read a description that is so wordy and complicated that you left the site STILL not really knowing what this stuff is. Sintra is a rigid, closed cell PVC foam board. If you look closely at a sheet of sintra, you’ll notice that it is has a smooth satin finish on both surfaces, but the center has tiny little air bubbles where the core has been expanded. This gives you a hard, flawless printing surface in a material that is half the weight of regular, solid PVC.
Why sintra is one of the most popular printing substrates
Besides it lightweight durability, sintra can be easily cut with a band saw or router to any shape or size. It’s also thermoplastic- it can be molded into different shapes when heated, making it a popular substrate in the trade show industry. We digitally print directly onto the substrate with waterproof UV-cured inks giving you superior color and print quality. You can cut, heat and curve your sintra display without worrying about damaging the photo print.
Is sintra printing right for you?
Choose sintra if you’re looking to create a sign that can withstand indoor and outdoor conditions. Comprised entirely of PVC plastic, sintra is dent, scratch and moisture resistant. It is also flexible. Though it’s flexibility makes it difficult to break or snap, large signs and signs in windy areas are prone to bending and bowing.
How does your PVC differ from styrene?
Our PVC Sintra comes on rigid sheets ranging from 1/8" to 1". Though slightly flexible, it cannot be rolled like styrene. Both can be used for outdoor or indoor use. PVC Sintra is perfect for long term durable signs.
Are your sintra signs durable for outdoor use?
Our sintra signage is great for outdoor use. The material is a durable plastic material that will not be impacted by water, due to it being waterproof. Our UV inks will also prevent the inks from fading, increasing the life of your prints.
