About Custom Vinyl Lettering Decals
Everyone loves a well-designed sticker. Make a good one, and before you know it, your band or brand is showing up everywhere. Spreading your message through stickers is easy; getting them made is a little less so. When ordering stickers, there are a lot of options out there. Today we’re going to focus on custom vinyl lettering and stickers. Vinyl is long-lasting and can be printed in vibrant color, making it ideal for stickers and adhesive signs.
When ordering a vinyl sticker, there are two basic things you need to think about: whether you want it on white or clear vinyl, and whether or not you want it die-cut. When we talk about white or clear vinyl, this refers to the opacity of the material it’s printed on.
White Vinyl Lettering:
White vinyl is printed lettering or images on an opaque white background. White vinyl is best for when you have detailed work that you want to show clearly, like informational text. It makes a clean background for whatever it is you’re trying to showcase. Product labels work really well on this. Black printing on white vinyl also makes for a drastic, high-impact graphic element.
Clear Vinyl Lettering:
Clear Vinyl is a transparent. Clear vinyl decals are used under two situations. Firstly, for when you want the background to show through your message. It’s great on things like sporting equipment, or custom bottles, like promotional water bottles or specialty brews. Wood grain or car color show up really nicely through clear vinyl.
The second situation is when all you want to show is your image, not a background. It’s most popular for use in window lettering. Clear vinyl stickers can be printed in full color, but keep in mind that because the medium itself is transparent, so will your message. To get a true color with clear vinyl, we print a white flush. That means that we print your lettering or image in white first to give us an opaque base, then we print color on top of it.
Let’s talk about white flush for a bit, because it’s actually pretty handy. As we said before, clear stickers are a popular option for windows. That white flush allows us to layer our print onto a clear vinyl to give you a double-sided window decal.
When we say “die-cut” we’re referring to a type of cutting process. Put simply, it means that we can cut your vinyl into any shape. You don’t have to stick to boring rectangular or oval stickers. If you’re doing lettering, we can print the lettering and cut the sticker to the shape of your letters. If you want an informational sticker cut to the shape of an irregular plaque, we can do that too. This can be done on white or clear vinyl.
Hope that’s helpful in making the sticker ordering process a little easier for you.
Need vinyl lettering for driver and passenger side doors of my 1999 Ford F-150. May decide to include a garage door background. I may decide to keep all lettering black or maybe with some red lettering. Do you charge by the letter or size? By color?
We charge by the square foot, therefore you can include as many colors and as many graphics per square foot as you would like!
Are Car signs car wash-safe?
Any car graphics that are adhered to the car are car wash friendly. Car wraps, car door decals, car lettering, and rear window graphics will not be impacted by a car wash. These car stickers are printed with solvent inks that are embedded into the material making them UV proof and weather resistant. These graphics are weather proof and should not be impacted by a car wash.
Will car decals damage my paint?
Our decals will not impact your car's paint. These graphics when removed will simply leave some adhesion which can be removed with alcohol or adhesive remover. The paint of your car will still remain in tact.
